The Leveroni family has a long, rich history in the county's dairy business. Over the years they have planted grapes and sold them mainly to high-end wineries for vineyard designate bottlings. Quietly they have created their own label and have produced some remarkable wines for the money. This new release Pinot is an excellent value. Soft and velvety with a little spice and smoke. You read that right, Atherton Vineyard, as in the upmarket hamlet of Atherton just down the road from Stanford University. Strange place for a vineyard, right? Good thing the proprietor of Orchard Hills felt differently. She is Ann Ramsay, and she wasn't interesting in selling off her family's land for more subdivisions and McMansions. We sure are glad, too. As this is a unique property on the Peninsula, and it produces a wine of real character and depth. Miniscule amounts of this Pinot are made, so do not dilly dally!

SOUTH OF FRANCE, LIMOUX...This nice Pinot Noir comes from the best terroir in south of France. It is full bodied, round in the mouth with nice black berries notes and a great structure. Delightful with poultry, salads, stews, cheeses, and all kind of Meats!

Vintage Notes: The heritage of Olivet Lane Vineyard is long and distinguished. Planted to the Martini clone in 1975, Olivet Lane is considered to be one of the heritage sites of Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley. It has been a source of fruit for many fine producers for years. This wine exhibits unmistakable Olivet Lane characteristics typified by brilliant color, silky texture, delicate mouthfeel, and upfront flavors of framboise, cherries and spice. Although enjoyable now, your patience will be rewarded as it will continue to mature beautifully with additional bottle age.

This dark-ruby red estate-bottled Russian River Pinot Noir is vibrant and complex on the nose and shows bright cherry and raspberry aromas with wonderful spicy undertones of cedar and cardamom. In the mouth, the cherry fruit overlays silky tannins that leave a lingering feeling of spice-infused chocolate. This exceptional wine is incredibly balanced and complex and will pair well with rack or leg of lamb, braised pork or barbequed salmon.

The color is deep garnet with ruby highlights. Aromas of bing cherries, ripe plums, vanilla and caramel rise from the glass followed by hints of smoke and forest floor. The Pinot has lovely flavors of cherry and plum with a touch of allspice. Soft and full bodied, the wine is elegantly balanced with a bright, crisp acidity.
