FEATURED WINES

2007 REMO FARINA BIANCO DI CUSTOZA VENETO OUR PRICE $13.99
grape varieties:  Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Fernanda, Riesling Italico, Chardonnay and Sauvignon
From the first to the last drop, Bianco di Custoza an enjoyable surprise. Obtained from a heterogeneous blend of grapes with aromatic scents, it has reached a top-quality level thanks to its fresh and modern characteristics. It presents itself in a brilliant straw-yellow color and its fruity fragrance is of golden apples and mature pears, all in pleasant harmony. Ideal with light dishes, it is unequaled as an aperitif.

2006 TERLAN VORBERG PINOT BIANCO RISERVA ALTO ADIGE  OUR PRICE $27.99
grape varieties:  Pinot Bianco
Only 3,000 cases are produced of this exquisite wine made from grapes grown on the steep vertiginous slopes of the Vorberg cru. Here, the evening temperature drops in
significant contrast to the days’ warmth, creating the ideal environment to produce ripe, concentrated grapes with bracing acidity. After fermentation in large casks, Vorberg is aged 12 months on the lees. The aromatics of wild flower, pear and honey are reminiscent of Alsace. Layers of ripe pear, hazelnut, almond and smoke grace the palate and lead to a silky, creamy finish. Try with mild cheese and rich, spicy seafood.

TRE BICHERRI - GAMBERO ROSSO

2008 PALA WINERY CRABILIS VERMENTINO DI SARDEGNA  OUR PRICE $15.99
grape varieties: Vermentino
Crabilis, which means "ancient goat shelter" in Sardinian dialect, is the name of a vine-covered limestone-sandy hill not far from the Pala winery. Crabilis lends its name to Pala’s Vermentino, as this is the most widely planted grape in this 25-hectare vineyard area. After harvest and gentle pressing, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks where it rests for a few months before bottling. Straw-colored with greenish reflections. Persistent floral and herbaceous aromas with notes of thyme. Medium to full-bodied on the palate with good balance and a long finish. Serve with seafood dishes and lightly seasoned soups.

2005 TOLAINI VALDISANTI TOSCANA ROSSO  OUR PRICE $29.99
blend of 75% Cab Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cab Franc
The grapes for this blend come from the estate’s two vineyards, Montebello and San Giovanni, which are only 4 km apart. The grapes are manually harvested and then undergo a strict selection process; first as bunches and then once they are de-stemmed, again as individual grapes. Each varietal is vinified separately in three tier stainless steel tanks, with frequent remontage and then undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation. The wine is then raised for 18 months in new French barriques. The symbol on the label of the chalice and the serpent was taken from a 16th century painting in the church bordering the Montebello estate. Rutilio Manetti, a famous Tuscan artist, commemorated a story of two saints exchanging gifts; a tray of fruit from Saint Nicola Di Bari and a chalice of wine with a serpent from Saint Giovanni Evangelista. The House of Tolaini has named its wine after the Saints and for the symbolism of Manetti’s painting: the fruit representing the richness of our soil and the serpent representing the passion of our labors. Youthful, rich dark fruit, berry and cassis aromas meld with notable French oak spice. On the palate, Duesanti is full-bodied with deep but reserved fruit flavors framed by rich oak. The excellent balance of fruit intensity with fine tannins indicates a cellar worthy wine.
90 POINTS - WINE SPECTATOR

2006 DONNA LAURA BRAMOSIA CHIANTI CLASSICO  OUR PRICE $14.99
grape varieties:  85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot
Selected from the best grapes in Donna Laura’s vineyards, the Bramosia undergoes a temperature-controlled fermentation with frequent remontage. 30% of the wine is aged in new oak barriques for 12 months and 70% in stainless steel tanks. 15% Merlot is added to the blend before bottling. Bramosia means "desire" in Italian and as artist Rik Olsen has illustrated on the label, the underlying theme here is romance. Bacchus and Venus make great company, but the magic begins only when Cupid strikes. He is the fundamental ingredient in any romance, just like Sangiovese is the key component in Chianti Classico. With a deep ruby color and intense aromas of cherry and red fruit, this Chianti Classico balances ripe fruit and balanced acidity with well integrated accents of wood and spice. A great match with roasted meats and flavorful pastas, this wine is also delicious to sip on its own without food.

2008 PALA WINERY CRABILIS TRIENTE CANNONAU DI SARDEGNA  OUR PRICE $19.99
grape varieties:  95% Cannonau and 5% other Sardinian grapes
Cannonau has been growing in Sardinia since the Neolithic period and is one of the most widely planted varietals on the island. The name Triente comes from an ancient Sardinian coin that was found in one of the Pala vineyards. The grapes for Triente are harvested from the S’Acquasassa and Crabilis vineyards. After temperature controlled fermentation, the wine spends 8 months in cement and stainless steel tanks and then rests 2-3 months in bottle before release. Intense ruby red color with subtle spice and mature red fruit aromas. Medium-bodied with good structure and a lingering finish nish. Serve with both white and red meats, spicy foods and flavorful cheeses.
