2008 ROBERT WEIL ESTATE RIESLING TRADITION OUR PRICE $30.99
The Robert Weil Riesling Tradition is a new wine in the Robert Weil Riesling collection. It was created in 2007 specifically for the United States and the United Kingdom, markets where consumers prefer residual sugar in their Rieslings. The wine is basically a multi-vineyard Estate Kabinett that is de-classified and bottled as Qualitatswein and sold at a Qualitatswein price. The term ‘tradition’ refers to old-school winemaking in the Rheingau, where for hundreds of years the vast majority of Rieslings were finished with 2 to 4 per cent residual sugar. The norm these days in the Rheingau is for bone dry, trocken wines--a phenomenon that began in the early 1980s.
