Michael spent a week in New York last January at the Italian Trade Commission's VINO 2010 big wine event.  During days of seminars and evening tastings, he ran into an old friend, Marcello Sarnacchiaro.  Marcello has been working with Italian wines for many years.  We lost track of him in recent times, but are happy to re-connect.  He introduced Michael to new brands that he is now involved with selling in the US market.  We just received these three new wines in our store.  Marcello has agreed to come in this Saturday to pour and discuss these new finds.  Be the first in town to taste and buy!

2008 CASALI MANIAGO PINOT GRIGIO COLLI ORIENTALI DEL FRIULI DOC  OUR PRICE $10.99
100% Pinot Grigio grown on the hills of Tenuta Sottomonte in the municipality of Buttrio, Friuli.  Bouquet is delicate with fruit hints of golden apple and florals of sambuco and almond tree.  Flavors of citrus fruit and grapefruit in the mouth.  Taste is dry, fresh, full-bodied.  Refined mineral-driven finish.  An excellent aperitif and hors d'oeuvres wine.  Serve with sushi, seafood, or shellfish.

One of the Best of Montalcino!  To the north of Montalcino, embedded like a natural amphitheatre into the beautiful hillside of Montosoli sits the Pinino wine estate.  This unique geography has made the region a favorite destination for the wealthy of Montalcino in the 18th  century.  The Pinino Estate was first built in 1874 by the notary Tito Costanti. Nearly 100 years later, in 1950, Pinino was inscribed to the Brunello winemakers cadastral register.
